Welcome to Focus Group. Hi, my name is Morgan Fong and I currently work as head of buying for a concept store in Brooklyn, New York.
Yo, what's up? My name is Akadash AK and I'm a stylist in LA and I sell clothing.
Hi, my name is Krystal. I work in admin from home and I don't really care about fashion.
We are playing overrated or underrated. All right, first one. Social media ads, overrated or underrated?
Underrated. It's very important to the customers.
Overrated. I know that they're useful for a lot of companies, but I kind of actively ignore them.
Social media ads are, I think, right in the middle. There's definitely some bad ones, but whenever I see a good one, it makes me want to buy stuff. So I think they're hitting the mark.
Visual product search. Presently, this is underrated. I think this is where fashion is going. Consumers, especially the young ones, they care about things like this.
Heavily underrated. I would use visual product searching for honestly anything. I think I've used it to find plants and I've definitely used it to find like brands that I didn't know who had designed it. You don't have to ask somebody where they got it from. Usually those things bring up options of different places that you can get at different prices.
Pop-up luxury experiences.
Super underrated. I love a good pop-up. It just creates a whole vibe for you to actually buy the clothing and experiences.
I'll say underrated just for the novelty of it. I think drawing people into the brick and mortar with activations, pop-up experiences, so important.
Clothing subscriptions or rentals.
Underrated. Sometimes you just have one event that you need an expensive outfit for. You're never going to wear this thing again.
Heavily underrated. I actually rent clothes that I sell. I'm really big on subscriptions. I think that's how you keep actual clients. They're incredibly valuable. They allow you to get in front of a new customer who may not know your brand.
All right, it's time for rapid fire. Let's do this.
Luxury toilet paper subscription.

Celebrity product endorsements.
Overrated.
Overrated.
Overrated. Too many celebrities are doing too many different things.
Name brands.
Overrated.
Overrated. I want to say more overrated. I'm seeing a lot of people buy a luxury item and put it on and think that they're putting something together, but they're really just wearing a name brand. Whenever I could thrift something for $3 and make it look better than a full Gucci fit.
So for fashion show and tell, I brought this Chanel bag. It is pretty much an everyday staple for me. As you can see, it's not the classic shape or the boy bag that others may have. It's got the long strap. I can go over cross body. I can also shorten it if I want a more elevated look. This is something I can totally wear on casual days. I totally believe in mixing high and low. You know, wearing the high street is totally fine. Something like this will elevate my look.
All right, stepped out today in Billionaire Boys Club Snapback. Just to get the day started. You have a bad hair day, throw on some designer. Mini chains. Pearls are super hot. Steel is hot. We're done with gold. We're doing all steel. Givenchy blazer. Something light. You don't even know it's Givenchy until you open it. Gucci scarf. Tag still on it, brand new. Plain black vintage Levi's t-shirt. I love vintage Levi's. Love the way it feels. This brand, I forgot. It's like a vintage Irish kilt making brand. Super comfy. It's just a great fit. Very unisex. Marni sneakers. Always got me comfy. Just to tie up the fit. Just in case you thought I wasn't doing it, this really put the seal on it.
So for fashion show and tell, I didn't bring a luxury item. So instead, I just brought the things that I wear the most. I have this hoodie. I wear it all the time, except for when it's way too hot in LA. Pretty much, I had stolen this from my best friend. I had initially borrowed it, but then it never got returned. And that was about three years ago. All right, peace out, y'all.
