SPEAKER: Democratizing technology, digital inclusion, next-gen STEM education for all. These lofty statements have substance only if they apply to every young mind, in every school, at every socioeconomic level. Which also means reaching every teacher, everywhere they teach. Verizon felt compelled to help, and to use the tools they have as a global communications and technology company to execute the idea at scale. The Verizon Innovative Learning Programs were created, offering teacher development resources and STEM ed tech lessons. But it's not enough. According to the National Skills Coalition, the U.S. scored lower in digital skills than 17 out of 18 peer countries. So the response needs to be big. Very big. Because education isn't one-size-fits-all, and the way teachers teach and how lessons are structured continues to change. This is why we expanded into Verizon Innovative Learning HQ, a powerful, agile portal designed for educators, by educators, from a series of interviews and co-creation workshops with over 100 educational partners and experts. The expanded learning portal provides prepackaged, cross-disciplinary lesson plans with a focus on technology that seamlessly integrate into any classroom, empowering teachers with over 225 lessons and courses, and 28 diverse subjects, from biology to music. And it's free to all. No application, no classroom required. In just six months since launch, Verizon Innovative Learning HQ has reached 430,000 students and over 1,700 teachers. Because we believe that every young mind deserves the world.
